Artist Statement

From a young age, I was regularly exposed to religious iconography

within a household of religious skepticism.

I grew an appreciation of the physical likeness without blind

acceptance of its message.

My artwork depicts religious undertones showing that the stark

contrast between good and evil is not always clear.

Preconceived notions about the nature of one’s intentions often

cloud a fair assessment of human activity.

The age-old notion of women as the fairer sex, in particular, is

brought into question by the depiction of traditional beauty in

femininity juxtaposed with the conventional strength and defiance of

masculinity.
